Introduction
Welcome to Beta Author Boost
A few words to set the scene for the next 10 weeks (Nov. 15, 2012 – Jan. 24, 2013]:
Beta Author is designed to give you structure, support and accountability to help you write your eBook. I will offer you frameworks, feedback, tough love, resources, information and inspiration.
But this is a no-guilt program.
Writing is an imperfect process. It is messy and iterative. In addition, each one of you enrolled in this session is extremely busy.
I want you to produce something kick-ass, of course. But I will work with you wherever you are in the book writing process. My intention is to create a safe, creative and productive space for you to work in. Let’s get started.
How the program works
Weekly email:
Every Thursday you will get a short email with a book writing tip and a nugget of inspiration, as well as reminders about upcoming events and deadlines. You may also get additional updates via email. All the emails are on the Weekly Emails page.
Writing deadlines
There are two deadlines for turning in a chunk of your writing for review. I will read up to 20 new pages each time. I will provide detailed feedback on up to 10 pages (2,500 words).
1st deadline: Dec. 13, 2012
2nd deadline: Jan. 17, 2013
Facebook:
Our Facebook page is your daily hangout. Think of it as a virtual workshop space. Please don’t be shy. The more each of you participates, the more useful it will be. Feel free to post any useful resources you run across related to eBooks or writing. Here is the link to join http://www.facebook.com/groups/237458769713830/ or to find the page.
Coaching sessions:

Less is more:
There is a temptation to dump the kitchen sink into a program when it comes to writing. I have tried to simplify the assignments (I call them action steps, so they sound less like work) and the course materials.
You decide what format (Read, Listen, Watch) works best for you – and when you want to take advantage of the materials. You are free to go at your own pace. These pages will stay open to you for as long as you wish.
About the 5 Modules:
I will open a new module every 2 weeks. During each two-week timeframe I will be adding new material and resources.
Dates and deadlines to put on your calendar
Live events
Live events (details here) are scheduled on Thursdays at 4:00 PM Eastern whenever possible. Dial-in information will be sent to you the day before. No worries if you can’t tune in live. Every audio or Webinar event is recorded so you can listen to it later.
Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, 4:00 – 4:45 PM ET: Guest interview with best-selling author and business coach Pam Slim. The topic will be her writing process. She is currently working on her second book.
Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, 4:00 -4:45 PM ET: Guest interview with best-selling author David Meerman Scott. The topic will be his book writing process: his tips, tricks, challenges and best practices.
Holiday downtime
I realize we all have different obligations over the holidays. No live events or program activities will be scheduled between Dec. 28, 2012 and Jan. 6, 2013. I plan to take time off during that period.
When you have a question
You can post it to our private Facebook page. I check in almost every day.
Or shoot me an email. I will respond as quickly as possible, usually within a few hours.
Note about my email address: [email protected] and [email protected] go to the same place.
