Talk to Me: Workplace Conversations That Work
Author Sue Johnston is founder of It’s Understood, a Canadian business communications and training firm. A draft of her manuscript had been “lingering on my Half Done list for years,” as she put it. She wasn’t sure she would ever finish it. Sue signed up for the inaugural Beta Author program and with a jolt of energy and insights from the course, rewrote and finished her book in a little over 8 weeks.
The book is a page-turning novella that ultimately clarifies the what and how of effective workplace communication. It’s a story that makes you think about the power of self-awareness as well as listening and being positive. In other words, the cornerstones of communication that deliver business – and personal – results.
Sue created a dedicated website for the book, Talk to Me Book, and is selling it through all the major e-tailers including Barnes & Noble and iTunes. It is also available in print.
She learned recently that a group of employees in a government department is working through Talk To Me every Wednesday morning in their book club.
Her advice to new authors: “Keep writing, folks, you never know whom you may influence.”
